I went to a comprehensive in Hackney and to Cambridge University. I’ve worked for some of the smallest theatre organisations (Gate Theatre) and two of the biggest (National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company). Currently I work for the Young Vic theatre in London.
I wholeheartedly support Arts Emergency, and the idea (and reality) of an alternative old boys network.
I am a political animal, and on bad days when I think that theatre is a closed shop for the privately educated I just want to give up. But on good days, when people like Arts Emergency do their thing, or when I see theatre with my own eyes (directly or indirectly) changing lives for the better then I am joyful and feel that I’ll never stop.
It’s a fight. And I’m happy to help if I can.
