Since graduating from Manchester Met in 1990 I have worked in several areas of art and design. For a few years I had my own business, designing and manufacturing bespoke mirrors. I’ve managed artists’ studios, worked with community theatre groups and refurbished the interior of an arts boat in Salford. In 2003 I collaborated with a friend to make a short film with ‘Showman’s Guild’ children, within which they let us into their split lives as fairground workers and students at my school in Westhoughton, Lancs.
My main career path has taken me into teaching art to 11-18 year old students. I have mentored many students over the years and like to think I’ve made a positive impact on their lives. It’s actually the best bit for me, so any chance to help guide more young people would be brilliant!
