Arts Emergency

Joshua Idehen

Founder of Poetry and Music Multimedia Organisation Poejazzi and a writer and songwriter

Poejazzi is a six year old multimedia arts organisation and “London’s premier spoken word and music night” (Southbank Centre).

We specialise in promoting and supporting forward thinking poetry and music through multimedia platforms.

We have been named Time Out Critic’s Choice on several occasions, been included in its list of 101 Things To Do Around London and we have curated events for establishments/organisations such as Bestival, The Mayor’s Thames Festival and The Royal Festival Hall.

We have also featured many poetry and music acts who have gone on to become industry mainstays including Ed Sheeran, Polarbear, Jamie Woon, Kate Tempest, David J, Scroobius Pip, and Jono McCleery.

We curate events and we post content daily on the latest in spoken word and music on our website that includes a blog network of several poetry commentators. We also film interviews and performances with our favourite artists and digitally publish poetry in the form of apps.

I have chosen to volunteer for Arts Emergency to help build a community of like minded and forward thinking individuals who can facilitate future creatives finding their way. I see it as a natural extension of the nurturing and connecting of people we try and implement in all of Poejazzi’s activities.
