Film Archivist

I am a film archivist, and I chose this career path as I’m interested in history, technology and how information is used and stored. I didn’t know that I wanted to do this when I did my undergraduate degree but by the time I finished, I did, as I knew I wanted to work with interesting collections of material and help them be used by researchers so they wouldn’t be forgotten. My BA in American Studies made me research in document archives for my history units, something I found fascinating. I loved being able to work with original sources and use them to tell a story. I love being a film archivist. It is a job that not many people have heard of or understand, but it is great fun and really interesting. I’ve decided to volunteer as I think the whole scheme is a great idea. I’d love to be able to help someone work towards the degree/career they want.
