I was never sure what I wanted to do when I was at school, I always enjoyed learning and studying and beyond that I didn’t have a clue. After university I realised that my other passion was clothes; I combined the two and after a lot of hard work I now spend most of my time researching fashion history for books and articles, lectures, and occasionally TV. I also co-present a radio show on Jazz FM about swing music. I went to a great state school and was always encouraged to continue learning, and I was the first in my family to attend university. It’s hugely important that people from all backgrounds get a chance to work in the arts and heritage sectors – arenas that can be difficult to succeed in without funds to help with free work placements – so if you’re looking for advice in these areas then I hope I can help!
