Arts Emergency

Sophie Coulombeau

Novelist and doctoral student in English Literature

I spent most of my twenties vacillating between my twin interests of politics and literature, eventually settling on literature and practicing as both a literary critic and a creative writer. I’d like to share the experiences and contacts I have gained through academia with young people who would like to pursue a career in scholarship or literary criticism, and to share my knowledge of the publishing industry with those who would like to write creatively. I’d also be happy to share my experiences of working in central government with young people thinking about the civil service.

I decided to volunteer for Arts Emergency because they’re making rare practical steps towards redressing the disastrous decisions made by government in recent years in the fields of arts and education policy. I want to do my bit.
