Broadcaster, producer, and columnist Jasmine Dotiwala, and The Sutton Trust's Director of Innovation Binda Patel are among four new appointments to the Board of Trustees. They will offer expertise and support as Arts Emergency seeks to expand and deepen its award-winning mentoring and community-building work.
2023 will mark ten years of running an alternative to ‘old boy’ networks, providing contacts, opportunities and advice to young people. Amidst a huge and ongoing decline of working class people in the arts, Jasmine and Binda will join young filmmaker Sam Oddie and early-career Theatre and Communications professional Chloe Heywood as new trustees bringing unique experiences and renewed energy to the Charity as it enters its second decade.
Jasmine Dotiwala has over 25 years of experience as a Head of Department, Manager, Broadcaster, Producer, Director, Inclusion Leader and Columnist at brands like Netflix UK, Media Trust, Channel 4 News, MTV and more. She is an active member of the BAFTA voting academy, the Royal Television Society Futures committee, Board of Directors at the ILUVLIVE music platform, the BPI Equity and Justice Advisory Group committee and the MOBO and BET International Voting Academy.
Binda Patel is a governance and programmes specialist and is Director of Innovation at Sutton Trust, who champion social mobility. She also has extensive experience of evaluation and measuring impact and has been a long-time supporter of Arts Emergency.
On joining the board of trustees, Jasmine Dotiwala says;

On joining the board of trustees, Binda Patel says;
“As a daughter of a migrant family, the first to go to university and the first to have a professional job, I am the embodiment of social mobility in the UK. But this isn’t the case for all. Arts Emergency is at the forefront of programme delivery in this sector. They lead by example and have a reputation that speaks volumes. A lot has been achieved in the short time it’s been running, and this is a testament to the excellent leadership within the organisation, I feel proud to have volunteered and played a small part as a supporter from the sidelines. I now want to lead as a Trustee and help Arts Emergency as they embark on an exciting new phase”
